Seven Comal ISD Seniors Receive Dance Scholarships
Three levels of scholarships were awarded during Comal ISD's All-District Dance Showcase, totaling $4,750. Both high school and middle school dance teams performed competition pieces with a finale dance performed by All-District dancers from each high school.

Superintendent, New Braunfels Mayor and Student Athletes Celebrate Read Across America Day
Superintendent Dr. John E. Chapman III read his favorite childhood book, "Johnny Appleseed," to first-grade students at Oak Creek Elementary to celebrate Read Across America Day. He was joined by New Braunfels Mayor Rusty Brockman, members of the Board of Trustees, Canyon High School athletes and district administrators to encourage reading.
CTE Spotlight: Aviation Maintenance at Davenport and Canyon High Schools
Students with an interest in aviation are learning there is more to the industry than flying a plane. Through the CTE Aviation Maintenance program, they are learning the science, the construction and the engineering that goes into building a career in the field.
CTE Spotlight: Automotive Technology at Canyon High
One of the oldest Career and Technical Education programs in Comal ISD is automotive technology which is offered at Canyon High School. Students gain hands-on experience inside the Cougars auto shop and earn industry-based certifications that build the foundation for careers in the automotive industry.
State CTE Qualifiers Recognized by Board of Trustees
Students who are involved in CTE organizations have many opportunities to sharpen their leadership and technical skills through competitions. So far this year, 13 Comal ISD students have qualified for state competitions in just a few CTE organizations including FFA, FCCLA and HOSA.
Fine Arts All-State Honorees Recognized at Board of Trustees Meeting
Only the best high school musicians, singers and dancers become All-State honorees, and Comal ISD had a dozen this year. The state-wide competitions include intense auditions and entail hours of practice.
