Mrs. Brown's First Grade Class!

About Me:

Hi! My name is Courtney Brown and I'm so ecstatic to be teaching first grade again here at Garden Ridge Elementary School! This is my 8th year teaching and my 7th year at Garden Ridge. I started my educational journey teaching 5th grade math for 2 years, then 5th grade virtual teaching (COVID year), and I have been teaching first grade ever since! I am a graduate of UTSA where I earned my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education including an ESL Certification. I live in San Antonio with my husband Stefan and I am a proud cat mom of Milo and Pickle. I love Garden Ridge and the community. I love going to my student's games, performances or tournaments outside of school when I am able (I make time as best I can)! I have a passion for math but have fallen in love with teaching students how to read and comprehend what they have read as well as helping them learn social emotional skills and regulation. First grade is truly my happy place and I am excited to continue this adventure!
